After three intense weeks of work, I finally found time to get back on track with my weekly run. Despite almost a month of inactivity, I was amazed that I clocked 45 seconds faster than my usual 2.4km time.
Maybe it was John Newman's ‘Blame’ on loop that inspired me, but I’m pretty sure it was a result of residual adrenalin from the week that has just passed.
The week-long International Furniture Fair Show 2015 (IFFS) ended yesterday.
During this time we displayed our Whampoa Fountain installation as part of The Little Thoughts Group’s “My Hood” collection for Singaplural, unveiled the “Secrets” thematic furniture showcase which we curated for IFFS at the Singapore Expo, and welcomed visitors to our own booth at Hall 4 where we featured our latest products.
To say it was a manic week is a gross understatement, but we couldn't be any happier and are so grateful for these opportunities. Thank you to the good people from SFIC and IFFS, and to The Little Thoughts Group!
It was great to meet new friends from around the globe, but it was even sweeter to reconnect with old friends, both personal and trade, who dropped by our booth to say hi. And of course, a big thank you to our clients and manufacturers.
You know who you are. We appreciate all your support.
We also want to thank the people who lent us a helping hand over the week. Gabriel, Peishan, Jed and Jacintha, we hope this experience has been great for you. You guys were a joy to work with - the future of our design industry lies in your hands.
Just like that, we mark the close of FLIQ’s 3rd year in operation. WHOA.
It’s been a great journey but if anything, the IFFS has taught us that there is still so much more to learn. It’s our second time taking part in a furniture fair and while we thought we had everything covered from our first year’s experience, we realised from day one of the fair that there were still quite a few gaps.
So many thoughts raced through my mind during my run – new aspirations, a refreshed vision for the future or FLIQ, what’s next for us.
The 45 seconds meant something. I want us to improve our personal best.
While we know that the speed of change is faster than the progress of our plans, we aim to be better a year from now.
This may be Year 3, but it feels like we’ve only just begun. We printed branded FLIQ T-Shirts for the first time and wore the logo across our chest like a tech start-up. And it truly felt like were starting up all over again.
As part of our renewed vision and commitment, this is my first ever blog entry and I promise to write more regularly.
Bring on Year 4!
